Modernize Tailors is Vancouver Chinatown’s legacy custom tailoring shop.

Established in 1913, our founders strived to provide a welcoming space where any client could experience the finest service to find their exact fit. Known for their excellent tailoring service, the Wong family started with men’s suits and quickly became the go-to tailor shop for locals and celebrities alike. Today, we specialize in a wide range of custom-made bespoke garments, clothing designs, wardrobe advising, styling, alteration services, and accessories. As your personal tailor, our priority is to ensure you get the perfect fit for your body shape and personality. 

For over 100 years, Modernize Tailors has earned a special place in the hearts of locals. The journey to becoming the go-tailor shop in Vancouver was no easy feat. Before the era of mass-produced clothing, tailor shops were on every corner. By the time founder Wong Kung Lai opened Modernize Tailors in 1913, there were nearly 40 tailor shops run by Chinese and Japanese Canadians. Imagine that!
